With the kickstarter for Ursula of Ulm - the sequel to Shagduk - making it over the finish line I wanted to highlight music that I still truly like that would have been around in the background, even if Steven and his band would not have been playing it or even liked it. Since Shagduk ends in May, it already excludes favorites like “Dust in the Wind”, but not “Carry on My Wayward Son” from Leftoverture. “Come Sail Away” from Styx’s The Grand Illusion fails for similar reasons.
A shame, as it would be appropriate.
Even more sadly, “Godzilla” by the Blue Oyster Cult also fails for being released a hair too late.
Fortunately and perhaps most appropriately, “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” was released on Agents of Fortune the year before. And one of my favorite Rush albums, 2112.
So, Jokes about “more cowbell” aside…
And now for something a little different:
Ursula of Ulm
For those who have enjoyed Pilum Press books like Thune’s Vision, The Penultimate Men, Death Flex, and of course Shagduk, the kickstarter for Ursula of Ulm is live.

Steven is indeed a music lover and would have had much to say about new Styx and Kansas releases. We (not you and I, of course) tend to forget how much incredible music was hitting the airwaves in the late '70s. We took it for granted the next single by our favorite bands would be better than the last. We thought it would last forever...
